It is a way to test new features for Insiders testing Windows 11 version 22H2. Of the two groups, One will get built-in 22622.x range with new features enabled by default. The other insider’s group will stay in build 22621.x with enablement packages off by default. According to Microsoft, the aim is to test the rollout updates with features off by default. Also, the company wants to analyze the impact of the new features with this method.
Windows Insiders Programs Beta Channels Splits Into Two Groups
As there will be two groups with different abilities, Microsoft can compare data from both of them before rolling out the feature widely. Those Beta channels that end up getting a build that doesn’t support new features must check updates. To start this, Microsoft rolls out Windows 11 builds 22622.290 and 22621.290 with improvements. Windows 11 build 22622.290 have some features that were rolled out in the Dev channel, including suggested actions. When you select and copy the text that represents something specific, like a contact number, then you will see an option to call that number on Teams. And if you select a date, then you can create an event in Outlook for that specific date. However, this feature is available only in the US and Canada. There is a chance to select the group you want to be in. As Microsoft, in a blog post, says, “We realize that Insiders in the Beta Channel will want to choose which update they get. Insiders who land in the group with new features turned off by default (Build 22621.xxxx) can check for updates and choose to install the update that will have features rolling out (Build 22622.xxx).” Most of the Windows Insiders will automatically get updated to Build 22622.xxx. However, they will need to wait for sometime to get access to all new features. The new builds are rolling out for Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22621.290 and Build 22622.290 on Beta Channel.
